Privacy Policy for Lyra

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Lyra is a music player designed to provide a simple listening experience with voice controls, local music playback, search, and optional Spotify integration.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Lyra accesses, how it is used, where it is stored, and how third-party services are involved.

1. Information Lyra Accesses

Local Music and Audio Files

Lyra accesses music stored on your device to build and display your local music library and to play your selected songs.

This may include information such as song title, artist, album, duration, artwork, and the location of the media file on your device.

Lyra does not upload your local music files to a Lyra server.

Microphone and Voice Commands

Lyra uses microphone access when you start a voice interaction. Your spoken input is processed through Android's speech recognition capabilities so that Lyra can convert your speech into text and understand supported voice commands.

Lyra does not intentionally record or store your voice recordings. Lyra receives the speech-recognition results needed to interpret your commands.

Speech recognition may be provided by Android or the speech recognition service configured on your device. The handling of voice data by that service is governed by the service provider's own privacy practices.

2. Spotify Integration

Lyra optionally allows you to connect your Spotify account to search and play Spotify music through Lyra.

When you choose to connect Spotify, Lyra uses Spotify's authentication system to obtain the permissions required for the Spotify features provided by the app.

Depending on the permissions granted and the features being used, Lyra may access Spotify account information such as your Spotify display name, along with authentication information required to communicate with Spotify.

Lyra stores the authentication tokens required for the connected Spotify session locally on your device. These tokens are used to authenticate requests to Spotify and maintain your connection.

Lyra does not sell your Spotify information or use it for advertising.

Your use of Spotify through Lyra is also subject to Spotify's Privacy Policy and applicable Spotify terms and policies.

3. Playback History and Preferences

Lyra stores certain information locally on your device to provide features such as Recently Played and Continue Listening.

This may include information about songs you have played, playback progress, and timestamps associated with playback.

Lyra may also store app preferences, such as settings related to the listening experience.

This information is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to a Lyra server.

4. Information Lyra Does Not Collect

Lyra does not operate its own user account system and does not require you to create a Lyra account.

Lyra does not use advertising or analytics services to build advertising profiles or track your activity across other apps or websites.

Lyra does not intentionally collect your contacts, location, photos, messages, or other unrelated personal information.

5. Third-Party Services

Lyra uses certain third-party services to provide specific functionality. These services may process information according to their own privacy policies.

Spotify

Spotify is used for optional Spotify account authentication, music search, and Spotify playback functionality.

More information about Spotify's privacy practices is available in Spotify's Privacy Policy .

Android Speech Recognition

Lyra uses Android's speech recognition capabilities to convert spoken commands into text. Lyra does not control how the underlying speech recognition service processes information outside the app.

Payment Services

Lyra may provide optional ways to support the continued development of the app through external payment services.

When you choose to make a payment, the payment interaction is handled by the relevant payment application or external payment service. Lyra does not request or store your full card details.

The privacy practices of the payment service you choose are governed by that service's own privacy policy.

6. Data Security

Lyra stores locally persisted app data using Android's platform storage mechanisms.

Communications with online services used by Lyra are made using secure network connections where supported by those services.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but reasonable measures are used to protect information handled by the app.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Information stored locally by Lyra remains on your device until it is removed by the app, overwritten as part of normal app operation, or you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.

Recently Played and Continue Listening information is maintained locally to provide those features and is automatically limited according to Lyra's playback-history implementation.

If you disconnect your Spotify account from Lyra, Lyra removes the locally stored Spotify authentication information associated with that connection.

You can also remove locally stored Lyra data by clearing the app's data through Android system settings or by uninstalling Lyra.

8. Children's Privacy

Lyra is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13. Lyra does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to Lyra, please contact us so that the matter can be reviewed.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to Lyra, its features, or applicable requirements.

When this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be changed.
